Scope of Service

Marcus Mahlen joined NAI Sioux Falls in February of 2017 as a broker associate. Since the beginning of his time at NAI Sioux Falls, negotiating his first deal at the age of 23, Marcus has shown a passion for putting his client first. His strong work ethic and ability to form strong personal connections in the community has allowed him to work on a number of significant projects for the firm. Marcus’ accomplishments include being involved in the Deal of the Year for 2018 & 2023, and being named the Broker of the Year in 2022, 2023, & 2025.

Marcus has completed nearly over 450 sales and leases on behalf of his clients through 2025. These transactions have totaled over 3.44M square feet of building area, over 18.52M square feet (+/- 425 acres) of development land, totaling nearly $225M in sale/lease value. His expertise primarily involves investment sales and leasing in the industrial, office, retail, and land asset classes.

In 2024, Marcus started a podcast with his wife Alexis called 605 Founders. where they interview founders & executives based in South Dakota.

Personal

Marcus Mahlen, a fifth-generation South Dakotan from Webster, is deeply rooted in both his professional and personal life in the Sioux Falls community. He is married to Alexis Mahlen, a fellow commercial real estate broker. The couple has three sons: Jack, born in July 2021, Miles, born in May 2023, and Louie born April 2025.

Education

Marcus received his Bachelor of Business Administration with an emphasis in Business Marketing from the University of South Dakota in May of 2015. He also received a minor in Political Science.

In June 2018, Marcus attended NAI University in Baltimore, MD, completing and receiving his MiCP Designation – Masters in Commercial Property from The Lipsey Company.

Marcus received his CCIM Designation in April of 2019.
Marcus received his SIOR Designation in September of 2022.
